  • What is the difference between Magics Essentials and Magics?

    Magics Essentials is a data preparation tool, available with a flexible monthly or yearly subscription to order online. Magics is a data preparation and build preparation tool, with the possibility to enhance it further with optional modulesHave a look at the table that compares both products.

  • Do I need to be connected to internet to use the software?

    Yes, you need to be connected to internet.

  • Is Magics Essentials located on the cloud or on my computer?

    Magics Essentials is installed on your computer as a desktop software. It doesn’t run from the cloud, but you do need an internet connection for authorization purposes.

  • Where will my files and projects be saved?

    Files and projects created with Magics Essentials are saved locally.

  • Do I need to own a 3D printing machine to use Magics Essentials?

    Magics Essentials is designed to work independently from any machine or any technology. All its features are always available and will work as good whether you own printing machines, or if you use an external 3D printing service or if you decide to switch machine and technology after some time.

  • Can I try Magics Essentials before buying it?

    Yes, you will enter the trial version right when you log in. Even though at the start you enter your personal and payment information, we won’t charge you (we only use this information for verification purposes), which means you can use the software for free for 30 days.
  • What type of subscriptions are available?

    You have three subscription options: monthly, yearly and 3-yearly.

  • How do I transfer to a subscription after my trial?

    After your 30 day trial is over, you don’t need to do anything. The subscription is automatically transformed into a monthly, yearly or 3-yearly subscription (depending on your initial choice).

  • What if I don’t want to continue using Magics Essentials after my trial?

    If you prefer not to continue with Magics Essentials, cancel your subscription before the trial ends and you won’t be charged. If you don’t cancel your subscription, you will automatically be charged.

  • What’s included in my subscription fee?

    By paying your monthly/yearly/3-yearly subscription you will automatically have access to:

    - Magics Essentials

    - Support from our application engineers via email (in English)

    - A maintenance contract allowing you to always have the latest version with updated 3D printing tools and functionalities

    - Access to MyAccount, allowing you to easily manage your subscription

  • What is 2Checkout?

    2Checkout is Materialise’s e-commerce partner. 2Checkout will be responsible for billing and invoicing.

  • How do I cancel my subscription?

    Cancelling you subscription is fast and easy! Login to MyAccount, go to “My Products” and click on “Stop automatic license renewal”.

  • How do I update credit card or other data related to my subscription?

    This can be done via the MyAccount interface.

  • How do I link multiple subscription to my account?

    2Checkout uses your email address as the unique identifier. As long as you use the same email address to purchase your subscriptions, they will all end up under the same account.

  • Where are my User ID and Activation code?

    In order to start using Magics Essentials, you have to activate it using your User ID and Activation code. Both have been sent to the e-mail address you specified when you ordered your copy of the software. Don’t worry, it can take several minutes to process the order!

  • How do I upgrade Magics Essentials to the newest software version?

    The upgrade to the newest software version is free of charge.

    Materialise will notify all paying and trial customers via email when a new software version is available. Alternatively, you can go to My Account and navigate to the My Products tab. Click Upgrade Now to proceed.

    Upon receiving the email with the upgrade information and installation pack, use it to install the newest version of the software product. After the installation, activate the update by launching Magics Essentials software and fill out your user ID and activation code in the dialog box.

    Note that the newest Magics Essentials version will be installed without removing the previous version(s) that you already own.

  • How do I activate Magics Essentials?

    1. When you start Magics Essentials, a dialog will pop up.

    2. Enter your User ID and Activation Code, then press OK.

    3. You are ready to use Magics Essentials!

    Note: in case of an error message, double check:
         - If your User ID and Activation code are correct
         - If the computer time/date is synchronized with the Internet
         - If you already benefitted from a free trial. You will not be able to start a free trial a second time.
