Instructions

Simple segmentation:

  1. Select the Global Threshold tool in the Segment menu.
  2. Enable the 3D preview via the green cube icon to visualize the resulting mask.
  3.  Inspect the mask for floating elements, which are isolated voxels or shells not connected to the main structure.

Configuring masks:

  1. Select the Region Grow tool from the Segment menu.
  2. Select your Source mask and indicate whether your Target mask is existing or will be added to a new one.
  3. Check Keep Original Mask and Multiple Layer.
  4. Select 6 — connectivity or 26 — connectivity to control the growing behavior.

Understanding connectivity:

  1. Consult the User Manual to learn more about the differences between 6 — connectivity and 26 — connectivity.
  2. Choose 6-connectivity to restrict growth to neighboring voxels that share a face.
  3. Choose 26-connectivity if you want the tool to grow to voxels sharing a face, node, or vertex.

Performing region grow:

  1. Click on your mask in the 2D window or in the 3D preview.
  2. A new mask will be created without the extra structures.
