UI/UX Designer

To strengthen our team, and ensure the quality of our software portfolio, we are looking for a UI/UX Designer.

What you will do

  • Carefully analyze customers' needs and the competition
  • Translate abstract ideas into concepts, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes in collaboration with the business stakeholders and customers
  • Help define the personas and the user flows of the product
  • Ensure the product owner, functional analyst, and development team are aligned on the designs and translation of the users’ needs into the product
  • Validate and adapt solutions with business stakeholders through user testing
  • Implement a user-centered approach to iterate over your solutions
  • Collaborate with the development team and support further developments
  • Apply your UX/UI skills to translate complex workflows into simple and great-looking interfaces
  • Build and cultivate the design system for use by the development teams
  • Take the lead in complex projects and manage the communication lines with all involved stakeholders
  • Work in an international environment collaborating with agile development teams
  • Ensure and reinforce Materialise branding across our software applications
  • Apply design thinking, research methodologies, and UX principles to products and processes

Your profile

  • You have a degree in UX or a similar field
  • You’re fluent in English
  • You have at least 3 years of experience as a UX/UI designer or in a similar role
  • You have experience designing technically complex, digital B2B products — not just apps or websites
  • You have experience weighing priorities in your designs, clearly distinguishing which parts are must-haves versus nice-to-haves, and making trade-offs between usability and technical complexity
  • You have experience taking the lead in complex projects and can coach other team members
  • You have a strong portfolio or can show relevant work during the interview process
  • You’re an expert in modern design tools like Figma and Adobe Illustrator (or similar tools like Sketch, Adobe XD, or others).
  • You know how to design and build a design system: experience with one or more design systems is a plus (e.g., Bootstrap, Clarity Design System, Spectrum, Fluent UI, BlueprintJs, ...)
  • You like to turn ideas into wireframes or prototypes to get early user feedback and iterate
  • You focus on building the right thing: understanding the problem is important to you
  • You care a lot about usability and consistency and can create outstanding responsive UIs
  • You know why the optimization of the user experience makes the difference when developing high-performance products
  • You have excellent communication skills; you can coordinate communication plans across teams and towards higher management levels

Location and type of contract

  • Leuven, Belgium
  • Full-time
  • Hybrid
