Product Owner — Orthopaedics Metal

Our Orthopaedics Metal team is an agile delivery team focused on the development and operational release(s) of personalized orthopaedic metal implants. The team ensures device development for both new and existing products is done in alignment with user needs and that design and manufacturing processes are installed and continuously optimized. The team is responsible for all product updates linked to the personalized hip and shoulder implant, ranging from minor improvements to significant changes. Projects can focus on user experience, lead time, territory expansions, new component developments or integrations, and COGS improvements.
Job description
In this role, you are accountable for the solution delivery to the organization. While doing this, you rely on talented R&D and operational colleagues to help provide estimations and execute the actions. You have a strong technical understanding, are passionate about meeting customer needs, and are open to stepping in to push the deliverables over the finish line by contributing content-wise and cross-functionally to the team actions planned. You'll join the Ortho Technical Team, where we make sure the technical roadmap of all orthopaedic products is continuously moving forward.
What you will do
- Act as a central communication point for all ongoing developments concerning the hip and shoulder implant portfolio, both for the internal organization and in external communication with customers (end users or partners)
- Translate the user needs in the market with respect to your products to the delivery team to impact product and process decisions
- Closely collaborate with the ortho business line team to make sure that your team’s objectives are aligned with the strategic market direction and priorities
- (Functionally) Manage the Ortho Metal team working on these deliverables and make sure the necessary actions are identified, prioritized, and scheduled
- Act as the first point of contact for team members to provide clarity and support towards the deliverables required from the market, and personally drive the team forward to meet expectations and timelines
Your profile
- Master’s degree in engineering or relevant background
- At least 3 years of experience in medical device operations or R&D
- Experience in product development or agile (product owner) is a plus
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Decision-making and prioritization: strong ability to evaluate competing priorities, make decisions, and manage trade-offs to achieve the best outcomes for the product and the organization. Strong capability of overseeing a multitude of ongoing matters and planning accordingly.
- Stakeholder management and communication: excellent communication and interpersonal skills to act as a central point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clear articulation of user needs, priorities, and progress.
- Technical proficiency: solid technical knowledge in product development and manufacturing processes, particularly in the field of (personalized) medical devices.
- Leadership and team collaboration: proven ability to inspire, guide, and align cross-functional teams toward common goals while fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
