As a Research Intern in our Central Research & Technology unit, you will play a crucial role in advancing our generative AI initiatives. You'll get the chance to develop proof-of-concepts using large language models (LLMs), contributing directly to our operational efficiency and product innovation. 

Job description

Join us at Materialise for a stimulating internship that offers pragmatic exposure within the 3D printing industry. This program is designed to provide interns with challenging yet enriching experiences that lay a solid foundation for career exploration and professional skill development.  The internship requires a minimum commitment of 3 months, though a longer duration up to 6 months is preferred. It is considered part of the educational program and must align with academic requirements. Voluntary internships are not possible, and, preferably, the university works with an internship agreement to formalize the arrangement. The starting date for the internship is September or October 2025.   

What you will do

  • Collaborate closely with internal business partners to comprehend and analyze business challenges
  • Design and implement innovative solutions using large language models to address these challenges 
  • Participate in the development of next-generation applications that enhance operational efficiency and support new product innovations

Your profile

  • Currently enrolled as a master’s student in engineering, data science, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Basic knowledge of large language models (LLM) and prompt engineering, or you’re ready to dive in and master it
  • A strong passion for innovation, a curious mind eager to learn how things work, and a desire to creatively solve complex problems

Where you’ll be: 

  • This internship is based at our headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. An accommodation fee is foreseen for international students to support your stay during the internship. 
  • Flexible work arrangements with the option to work up to 3 days from home.
