How to Automate a Fracture Plate Design Workflow with Scripting

Follow this example of a scripted workflow for patient-specific fracture plate design to help you save significant time in your design workflow.

Instructions

Generating fracture plate profiles:

  1. Select the Line tool in the Sketch menu.
  2. Create a new line by first clicking on the main bone to create one point, then clicking on a piece of the fractured bone.
  3. Repeat step two to create a second line.
  4. Select the Circle tool in the Sketch menu.
  5. Choose Circle arc.
  6. Click on each endpoint to round it off with the adjacent endpoint.
  7. Select the Line segments and Circle arcs in the Object Tree, right-click, and choose Set Construction On.
  8. Click OK in the dialog box to continue.


Defining patient-specific screw hole positions:

  1. Click OK on the Indicate screws dialog box.
  2. Click the general location on the fracture plate model where you'd like a screw hole.
  3. Select On triangle edge.
  4. Repeat step 2 for the second screw hole, then select Triangle node.
  5. Repeat step 4 according to the number of screw holes you need.
  6. The software will automatically suggest optimized screw hole positions.
