For 3D planning, CT images are converted into accurate 3D models of the patient’s heart and surrounding structures. Prof. Thomas Modine is a cardiovascular surgeon in the Heart Valve Unit of the University Hospital Center (CHU) in Bordeaux. He has acquired a PhD and MBA and is experienced in TAVI, TMVR, minimally invasive surgery, and valve-sparing techniques. Prof. Modine is interested in aortic valve complex, bioengineering, beating heart surgery, hybrid approaches, TAVI, and TMVR.
Ralph Stephan von Bardeleben, MD

Dr. Ralph Stephan von Bardeleben is the Head of the Center of Structural Heart Disease Interventions and the Heart Valve Center in Mainz, Germany. Following the completion of his medical education at the University of Mainz and the University of California in San Francisco, US, Dr. von Bardeleben trained as both an imager and interventional cardiologist. Since 2004 he has served as Head of the CV imaging department. Dr. von Bardeleben's department has played key roles in a number of early 'in-man' implantations and other international trials.
Clare Otto, M.S.E.
Technical Consultant, Materialise
Clare Otto specializes in 3D anatomical analysis and modeling for cardiac interventions. She is passionate about improving patient care through the advancement of pre-procedural planning, and utilizing 3D technology to produce more accurate, consistent, and efficient visualization and measurements.
Over the past several years, she has helped to implement personalized patient-planning programs in several major medical device companies and supported the design of hundreds of personalized models for research and clinical use. She holds B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan and has previous research experience in the fields of tissue engineering and medical device design.
