Join Materialise as the Director of Metal 3D Printing within our Manufacturing business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of our metal production unit in Bremen to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. 

Job description

This role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities and interactions with different internal and external stakeholders within a global organization.

What you will do

People management:

  • Lead and motivate teams to achieve performance targets and organizational goals
  • Mentor a team of three local managers (production manager, project engineering manager, quality manager) and support them in their development
  • Reinforce cohesion within the team and make sure they're aligned as a local management team and with the global organization
  • Foster a work culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure alignment with global processes, procedures, and workflows to provide structure and clarity while allowing for flexibility and agility in the teams to respond effectively to changing business needs
  • Encourage a proactive mindset within the teams, empowering employees to take ownership of their responsibilities and contribute to the organization's overall success

Product management:

  • Work closely with the market managers for aerospace and semicon to translate market needs into tangible product offerings and effectively position and promote metal 3D printing in the marketplace
  • Ensure that the operations team “walks the talk” of our product offering and brings the metal value proposition into practice
  • Provide direction and support to our sales team in establishing and maintaining relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive business development efforts

P&L responsibilities:

  • Develop yearly operating budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with finance and executive teams
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Analyze cost structures, pricing strategies, and revenue streams to maximize profitability
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiencies

Your profile

  • You have a master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field
  • You have strong experience with a commercial focus in the metal industry (preferably CNC services)
  • You are a change agent with strong leadership skills; you are able to inspire and motivate teams
  • You are a strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; you have a data-driven approach to decision making
  • You combine a strong commercial mindset with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; you're able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You are proficient in financial management, budgeting, and P&L analysis
  • You are able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • You speak fluent German and English
