Types of internships
Students who do internships with us get meaningful work experience in an exciting business environment. We’ll make sure that you have a positive learning experience while you’re with us. Materialise offers three types of internships: sales and support, engineering, and staff.
- Internships in Belgium need to be arranged through your educational institute because it needs to be connected to your university credits
- Internships in Germany must be a minimum of six months long; in other countries, internships vary in length
Sales and support
Depending on your skills, you could do an internship in a sales department for one of our business units (Medical, Manufacturing, or Software).
This type of internship typically involves various commercial and administrative tasks to support the sales team or even trainee roles such as a sales engineer or customer support officer.

What we expect from you
We know that you’re doing an internship with us to learn, so we don’t expect you to tick every box. Internships are designed to help you to develop your competencies. However, we do hold all our interns to a high professional standard.

- Check with your college/university if there are requirements in connection to doing an internship for your study program

Your application is reviewed by our recruitment team.
The recruitment team discusses your profile with interested hiring managers. They will try to find the most appropriate internship opportunity for you.
If there’s an internship opportunity, the hiring manager will arrange an interview with you to discuss your profile and motivation. Prepare for this as you would for any job interview. Think about your skills, what you like to do, your interests, what kind of roles you enjoy in projects.
If your interview goes well, a starting date will be agreed on with Materialise for your internship.
