Materialise Simulation
Simulation is a module for Materialise Magics that creates virtual prototypes and allows you to control part quality and reduce the number of build failures. Combining Simufact’s proven simulation technology and Materialise’s knowledge of additive manufacturing (AM), it offers a powerful solution tailored to the metal AM process.
Benefits
Minimize time-to-market and development costs
Assess part distortion to effectively position and adapt support structures to counteract such issues. This minimizes the number of expensive test builds, speeds up time-to-market, and reduces development costs.
Predict the complete AM process
Minimize scrap based on robust AM simulations, and use our advanced build preparation software to define support and orientation. Our control platform also allows you to set up, control, and intervene during the build.
Improve product quality and lifespan
Use Simulation to assess the best part orientation for the AM process. Optimal orientation leads to better part quality, including less deformation, lower residual stresses, and better surface quality.
5 reasons to choose Simulation
- Apply proven high-end AM simulation technology in metal production
- Rely on easy-to-use software that doesn’t require simulation or AM expertise
- Work with very fast and robust simulations on a normal workstation
- Apply simulation within your trusted Magics environment
- Benefit from a very competitive price
Ideal for the 3D printing technology you use
Risk of shrink lines
The simulation results predict where shrink lines might occur. Red indicates a high risk of shrink lines, while blue indicates no risk.
Risk of recoater contact
The red region indicates the risk of recoater contact, which can occur due to residual stress and cause warpage of the part.
Total displacement
This simulates the overall deformation of the part after 3D printing.
Support structure simulation
Results provide insight into risks related to the support structure. The red region indicates where reinforced support is suggested as the support is prone to failure and tends to warp.
Distortion compensation
Automatic part modification by distortion compensation. The red region indicates the original part, while the gray is the part with compensation applied.
Overheating prevention
The Simulation module detects zones affected by heat accumulation so you can address them.
