Scientific Biomechanics Consultant – Materialise Motion
We are looking for a scientific consultant for Materialise Motion. In this role, you will be the spokesperson for our Motion products and solutions in the scientific community. Additionally, you will help our technical experts gain insight into customer needs by building business relationships in the relevant markets. Networking skills and an innovation mindset are key!
What you will do
- Define scientific stakeholders to identify scientific experts that are in a position to offer valuable insights
- Segment scientific experts according to their needs in accordance with the relevant strategic needs of the company
- Gather feedback and insights from scientific experts to better inform Materialise Motion's R&D team and the overall strategic direction of Materialise Motion
- Map the product-related needs of the scientific market to identify unmet market needs for Materialise Motion to add value to their products
- Provide accurate and up-to-date profiles of scientific experts to support the communications strategy and tactics
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the scientific status of business-relevant areas and their needs
- Develop long-term relationships with these scientific experts to gather their insights and feed those back to the company
- Focus on the markets of DPM, podiatry, O&P, and PT
- You identify prospects, possible contacts, stakeholders, and decision-makers within the prospect organizations and set-up a coordinated approach for contacting these organizations
- Segment the scientific experts based on the business objectives, e.g. prolific speakers, investigators, publishers
- Work with scientific experts as scientific consultants to engage in scientific activities aligned with corporate projects such as advisory boards, speaker programs, and clinical trials
- Demonstrate research activities on relevant events (external and internal)
- Steering and moderate co-creation sessions in which you bring the scientific stakeholders together with our internal experts to identify tangible applications in their organization
- Manage events targeted to scientific experts of interest
- Research collaborations: act as a main point of contact for the academic community with gradual handover to relevant teams
- Translate the needs of scientific experts into product enhancements
- Based on the scientific unmet market needs, you align with our technological experts to conceptualize and pitch potential solutions to our customers
- Work with our patent attorneys to protect any IP that could be generated in this process
Your profile
- Entrepreneurial mind-set, ready to open up new scientific opportunities
- Eager to detect opportunities regarding the translation scientific output into practical applications in the field
- Outgoing personality, networks easily
- Willing and able to think out of the box
- Msc. in a business relevant area (biomechanics), a PhD is a plus
- Academic network in relevant area is a plus
- Comfortable to take the stage and communicate on scientific/business related topics
- Willing to travel for work (estimated: 30%, worldwide)
- 3-to-5-year experience in a scientific-commercial role
