Research Project Manager — Metal 3D Printing


Are you an experienced project manager with a knack for innovation and excellent communication skills? Do you thrive in a technically challenging environment, particularly in additive manufacturing? If so, you could be the ideal candidate to join our German-speaking Research Engineering team. We are seeking a dynamic Research Project Manager who will take charge of our externally funded projects, cultivate a robust research partner network, and drive the acquisition of newly funded projects. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in advancing internal application and process development projects within metal 3D printing, specifically laser powder bed fusion production.

What you will do

  • Manage ongoing and future funded research projects, including report creation and presenting results at consortium meetings
  • Administer grants and ensure compliance with funding requirements
  • Drive acquisition of funded projects aligned with business objectives and internal stakeholders' needs
  • Provide technical expertise in delivering work packages and projects, including requirement engineering and creating technical work content
  • Contribute to internal research activities in manufacturing, focusing on application and process development

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., physics, mechanical and industrial engineering, materials science, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Experience managing funded research projects
  • Demonstrates creativity, open-mindedness, and solution-oriented approaches
  • Reliable and with strong communication skills (ability to convey confidence even with vague content)
  • Proficient in the application of laser powder bed fusion of metals
  • Fluency in German is a must
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Ability to think innovatively and independently, pushing beyond conventional boundaries
  • Basic software skills, with a preference for experience in developing smaller Python scripts and applications
