Production Quality Engineer

LEUVEN, BELGIUM
ENGINEERING
HYBRID
FULL-TIME

As a Production Quality Engineer within our industrial manufacturing division, you'll work closely with production teams and process engineers to ensure our processes deliver quality products. You will work from Materialise HQ in Belgium and will be part of a driven, dynamic, and international team

What you will do

  • Focus on the process's robustness, including both technological and operational flow/logistical aspects; know the intended process and have a view of the process and its capabilities as it is executed
  • Ensure the process is well described (in cooperation with the process owner) and can be executed as intended, including up-to-date procedures and standard worksheets for operators, traceability guarantees, logs of relevant production data for analysis, etc.
  • Be the operators' contact person in case they encounter something blocking the execution of their process according to its standard
  • Be directly responsible for following up on the operational quality indicator (KPIs) (delivery on time, machine capabilities, non-conforming products, product quality characteristics), and production/operational complaints
  • Ensure consistent use of root-cause analysis tools to analyze incidents, install corrective actions, and identify preventive actions to improve using quality tools (e.g., CAPA, Ishikawa, DMAIC, etc.) for a structured approach
  • The points above form the basis for continual improvement actions you will define in close cooperation with the quality and production manager; use a data-driven, structured approach and keep track of implemented improvements to ensure this point
  • Drive weekly quality scrums with team leaders/operators where KPI results, incidents, etc., are discussed and ideas for continual improvement are initiated — you are an integral part of our quality cascade and the main source of information for monthly operational quality meetings.
  • Identify the need and make suggestions for more in-depth analysis and/or improvements and liaise with the (business) process engineering team to further define these projects; follow up on CAPAs and G8Ds and their resulting actions when linked to the process you are following up on

Your profile

  • You have a master’s degree in industrial engineering or equivalent through experience
  • Preferably, you have experience as a process engineer or quality engineer in a production environment
  • You have excellent communication skills in English and Dutch
  • With your excellent analytical skills, creative approach, and concern for quality, you are able to define sustainable improvements
  • You have a flexible, diplomatic personality, which enables you to interact with colleagues of all levels in the organization and helps you connect to different mindsets and personalities within the teams
  • You’re a real team player and a good communicator
