Process Research and Development Engineer
As our new Process Research and Development Engineer, you will explore 3D printing opportunities in the medical field using polymeric, metal, or bioresorbable implant materials. Starting from an innovative technology, material, or medical application, you will gather input from relevant stakeholders, propose potential solutions, define 3D printing experiments, and critically evaluate the outcome. You will be responsible for the setup of these experiments, material development, and translation into a medical solution.
You will become a process expert and build strong relationships with the product development and operational production teams. This will enable you to fully understand the product requirements and operational reality to ensure a smooth roll-out from a feasible concept into a fully validated medical device.
What you will do
- Define the scope, process inputs, and production output requirements in collaboration with the product development team
- Determine and characterize the critical process and material parameters
- Translate mechanical and geometrical requirements into relevant test specimens and experiments
- Set up, execute, and critically analyze experiments
- Report results internally and externally
- Knowledge transfer inside and outside of the Process R&D team
- Opportunity spotting and scouting for new 3D printing technologies and materials for medical devices
Your profile
- You have a Master’s degree in Science or Engineering (Material, Mechanical, Industrial) or similar
- You have an interest in 3D printing and medical applications and want to become an expert
- You are highly motivated and have a hands-on attitude
- Experience with CAD / Scripting (Python) / bioresorbable materials is an asset
- You are analytical and have excellent problem-solving skills
- You are flexible, social, and assertive
- You can think outside the box and want to boost innovation
- You are fluent in English
- You are a flexible team player
