IP Officer


We're seeking an IP Officer to protect the intellectual property of our Software and Manufacturing business units, specifically our patents and trade secrets. You will work with product managers, team leaders, and R&D departments to set up structural meetings that capture our latest innovations and processes, ensuring our IP is completely protected.

What you will do

  • Encourage our colleagues in the R&D department to remain diligent about protecting our intangible assets
  • Help inventors summarize inventions in the invention disclosure form
  • Evaluate patentability, gather the necessary information, and present the submitted inventions at regular IP review meetings
  • Act as an intermediary between the inventors and external patent counsel during drafting and patent prosecution
  • Assist the legal counsel in contract negotiations and the handling of disputes
  • Raise awareness among all employees, through training sessions and presentations, about the importance of confidential information and trade secrets
  • Define and implement structural measures for the protection of trade secrets
  • Take care of all IP matters relating to invention harvesting, patent drafting, prosecution and enforcement, freedom-to-operate and competitive landscape analyses, patent validity, infringement matters, IP risk management, and opposition and appeal cases
  • Handle the IP-related aspects of our contractual agreements with external partners, universities, and other research institutions
  • Contribute where necessary to IP due diligence projects

Your profile

  • A technical degree with an ability to grasp a broad range of technologies
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working within an in-house IP department or a reputable private practice firm as an IP counsel
  • A combination of analytical and synthetic skills
  • An excellent communicator and networker 
  • A pragmatic, can-do attitude
  • A first-rate planner with the ability to follow up 
  • The ability to assess technologies, processes, and products from a technical, legal, and commercial or strategic perspective
  • A qualification as a European Patent Attorney would be considered an asset
