RP slice
The RP Slice Module interfaces from Mimics to any kind of Rapid Prototyping system via sliced formats. Moreover, RP Slice automatically calculates the support structures necessary to produce the RP model.
A quick and accurate transfer of your segmentation directly to your RP machine
Working with sliced files allows the user to work with large files and to maintain high resolution. When creating the sliced files, a cubic interpolation algorithm can be used to enhance the resolution of the RP model. The perforated supports - a Materialise patented technology - that are created save material, are easier to clean and can be built up to 4 times faster.
Sliced formats
The RP Slice Module achieves optimal accuracy in a very short time by the direct conversion of the images to several sliced machine file formats: SLI and SLC for 3D Systems, CLI for Eos. High order interpolation algorithms result in excellent surface reproduction from scan to model.
Colour
RP Slice supports colour stereolithography: tumors, teeth and teeth roots, nerve channels,… can be highlighted in the RP model, giving it an extra dimension. Patient information can be displayed by punched or coloured labels.
Calculation parameters
RP Slice allows you to choose the layer thickness, slice resolution and scale factor for the sliced files. Several filters can be chosen such as minimal segment length filter, out of line distance and minimal contour length.
The sliced data can be saved in different formats: Common Layer Interface Files (*.CLI), 3D Systems Layer Interface Files (*.SLI) and 3D Systems Layer Contour Files (*.SLC).
Support Generation
The Contour Support generator automatically calculates the support structures for the sliced file formats (SLI, SLC and CLI) needed in the production of the Rapid Prototyping model. Not only is this a faster way of file preparation, the patented perforated support structures also build up to four times faster, consume less material and are easier to clean than conventional supports.

Support generation parameters
Several calculation parameters can be specified. RP Slice gives you the possibility to choose the hatching space in X and Y direction of your supports. This allows you to choose the length and the angle of the perforation of the supports, the maximum angle that can be built without support and the starting and ending height of the support.
