Quality control, scanning & measurement services

We are committed to providing our customers with high quality products. The following inhouse services are supporting our daily quality control activities:

Materialise Scanning & Measurement services

High-end 3D Digitiser

Materialise invested in a GOM ATOS II measuring system based on the principle of triangulation. The projected fringe patterns are observed with two CCD cameras. The 3D coordinates for each camera pixel are calculated with high precision and a polygon mesh of the object's surface is generated. To maximise the quality of reports the device is installed in our optimally conditioned measurement room.

Dimensional quality control and inspection
Our measuring & scanning services allow us to integrate a full dimensional quality control in our business process. The motivation behind this is the continual drive to treat our technologies as real production techniques. The Materialise team checks indicated critical dimensions and features (e.g. CMM inspection points), offers section based analysis and complete customer specific measuring reports using different alignment methods (e.g. RPS).

Digitising all your components
Measuring flexible plastic components is a highly specialised task. As plastic objects are not self-supporting, they need a different kind of fixture system compared to parts in much less flexible materials like steel or aluminium. Thanks to our in-house developed RapidFit software (see below) we can make freeform fixture systems. This allows us to digitise plastic components, from tiny connectors to car bumpers, accurately and cost-efficiently.
Besides RP components, we also digitise parts and arts to create surface and solid models for analysis and storage purposes.

The ATOS system

Full chain of reverse engineering
Materialise completes the full circle of reverse engineering by enhancing the synergetic power of our software development (3-matic) and our rapid prototyping production with the creation of a new scanning unit.
Our extensive knowledge in triangulation combined with the ATOS scanner strengthens our pole position in personalised manufacturing, in the reproduction of parts and arts and retro-fitting.

Our scanning & measurement unit offers 3 high-quality services:
  • Improved dimensional quality control and measuring reporting service
  • Digitising to STL for reproduction of parts and arts
  • Scanning and creation of solid and surface models (e.g. IGES, STEP)

RapidFit support systems

It's all about quality. About how to check, measure, machine or assemble parts in the most accurate and secure way. Once firmly positioned, all complex, large or unstable parts easily allow these operations.
Materialise RapidFit is such a support system, which has a unique fit to the part. The RapidFit system consists of a reference plate and fixtures (or supports), often in combination with aluminium beams or other standard fixturing systems like e.g. Alufix.

We use our own RapidFit systems to support the models during measuring and scanning but also to ship large and complex prototypes safely to our customers' sites.
You could use the RapidFit systems for visual control of your prototypes and pre-series, for quality control, as a basis for assemblies, for clamping, etc.

Our Magics RapidFit software creates support systems that have a unique fit to the part and consequently facilitate the whole quality control process

Magics RapidFit software allows to design the fixtures automatically. In a few mouse-clicks you have fixture elements that have a unique fit to your part and that can be built by using rapid prototyping techniques.
