- Enter the received password and click Next.
- When the password is valid, you can start using SimPlant.
To request a password online you need your CCKey code which can be found on the Certificate of Authenticity. You received this Certificate with your SimPlant software purchase. Since SimPlant 10 you can request your password online via the Registration Dialog.
In the Registration Dialog fill out your CCKey code and click on the Request button. In the next Dialog choose the 'online' option and click 'Next'. This will bring you to the Online Request Dialog in which you have to fill out your e-mail address.
Click 'Finish' to open the web page of the on-line password generation System. On the first page select the flag that represents your language, on the second page click on 'login'. This will bring you to an overview of your license. All the fields will already be filled out, except for the e-mail address. To request a password fill in your e-mail address and click on 'request password'. A new password will immediately get generated and sent to your e-mail address.
If you have an older version of SimPlant you can still request a password online via the web pages of our on-line password generation system. First select the flag that represents your language. On the second page fill in your CCKey and click on login. This will bring you to the password request page, fill out the requested information and click on 'request password'.
Via SimPlant Double-click the SimPlant shortcut on your desktop or choose Options | Password Request Wizard to open this wizard.
- In the Password Request Wizard, choose the first option: ‘From now on, contact the Materialise password server automatically to obtain passwords’. This option is only shown once, so it is possible this step is not shown anymore, in case you've passed it before. Click Next to proceed.
- Fill in your CCKey code in the next step. Click Next to proceed.
- SimPlant will contact the Materialise Dental password server to obtain your passwords. This might take a couple of seconds.
- Start using SimPlant.
In the future, SimPlant will now automatically contact the password server whenever your password is about to expire. You will not notice this, unless some problem occurs (for instance when your internet connection is lost).
Via the website
Go to http://passwords.materialise.com
On the first page select the flag that represents your language, on the second page fill in your CCKey code and click ‘Submit’. Choose the correct contact person for your company and click ‘Password generation’. This will bring you to an overview of your license.

Reach the Password Request Wizard via the menu Options. Then choose the first menu item: Password Request Wizard.
Three options are present in this wizard:
- Apply for a password
- Enter a received password
- Configure your floating license server
Option 1: Apply for a password
If you do need to apply for a password, and do not have a floating license server available, you can apply for a password online, by email or by fax.
If you choose the first option “Online”, you will be prompted for your CCKey. You cannot apply online without a CCKey.
If you choose to apply by e-mail or fax, you have the option to apply with a CCKey, or without it. Fill in your contact details and enter your e-mail or fax. Your password will be returned via e-mail or fax, according to your choice.
Option 2: Enter a received password
If you have already received a password from your Materialise Dental Representative through e-mail, fax or another method.
When you’ve entered your password and click “Next”, the password you entered will be verified. If it is valid, your software will be licensed and a success dialog will be shown.
Option 3: Configure your floating license server
Choose this to configure a floating license server if you have one available. Enter the IP address or name of the server in the dialog box, the port of the server, and optionally a description for the server.
The received passwords should be ending with
• XC for SimPlant 11 or higher
• XB for SimPlant 10
If the last two characters of your password do not follow these rules, the password is not correct. Please request a new password.
If your password ends correctly and the password problem still persists, you can check the list of password problems.
When you enter a correct password, SimPlant will be successfully registered. You will be able to finish the password request wizard and launch the software. If the password request wizard appears every time you launch the software, there is a problem with the license. An error code will be shown to tell you what is going wrong. Below you can find the solution for each error code. If there is no error code shown, check the solution of error code -8.
error code -0:
Your license has been successfully added, you can start using the software. If the password request wizard launches every time you start Simplant, check the solution you can find under error code 8.
error code -3:
The password that you are using has expired
Solution:
Request a new password.
error code -8:
The registration is not complete, not all modules are renewed.
Solution:
Check that you are registering the right flavor of SimPlant (planner - pro). For example, you can't use a password of SimPlant Planner to register SimPlant Pro.
Check the date of your pc, it's important that it is correct.
If you are a licensed user: enter your CCK. You will be able to switch off the notification about the expired module that you don't want to renew.
If you don't have a CCK and you encounter this problem when entering the password manually: there are some modules left that are still expiring. To remove the notification about these expiring modules you have to delete this expired registration manually. There are two possibilities:
- First solution:
Delete the file MatSoft.L3.lic stored here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Materialise\LicenseFiles (Windows XP) or C:\Program Data\Materialise\LicenseFiles (Windows Vista) . Afterwards, open taskmanager and kill the process LicSrv30.exe. When this is done, open Simplant again and re-enter your password. - Second solution:Install the floating license server, you can find detailed information here and delete the local expired license(s).
error code -9:
All the floating licenses are in use.
error code -11:
The password you added is corrupted.
Solution:
- Check the password again, it should be added correctly
- Check the system ID, it should be the same system ID that is mentioned in the registration email. Contact your local dealer if the system ID is different.
error code -13:
The license type is incorrect. Floating passwords should be added in the floating license server application in stead of in the password request wizard of the floating user.
Detailed information about the set up of a floating license server can be found here.
error code -16:
The password couldn't be registered because the saving of the saving of matkey failed. This error is generated because the user who is trying to enter the password has not enough rights on his pc.
Solution:
- Make sure your account has administrator rights.
- Give full control to all users for the folder where the matkey file is saved
'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Materialise\LicenseFiles' (Windows XP) or C:\Program Data\Materialise\LicenseFiles (Windows Vista)
