From CAD file over Next Day concept model to Injection Mould Tooling production part

Take a short cut: 1 specialist to support you all the way

Materialise and EIA Electronics joined forces for the realisation of the EIA Electronics Virtual Terminal - an electronic control unit with graphical colour display for agriculture vehicles.

Step 1: The first concept models are made in stereolithography and delivered in 24 hours. The development team can immediately start evaluating and adapting the initial design.

Step 2: A small series of vacuum cast terminals are produced in silicone moulds. The result is extremely close to the final production material. All components are assembled, metal inserts included, in order to create a finished prototype ideal for design, colour, technology and marketing research.
Another step that allowed to shorten the development cycle remarkably.

Step 3: Being satisfied with the result, EIA Electronics opted for the "real stuff" i.e. a production series of their Virtual Terminal. The Materialise RapidParts team designs aluminium moulds with the help of the in-house developed Magics software. The tool halves are manufactured in aluminium using high speed milling.

Step 4: The moulded parts are ready for use in less than 5 weeks. By using Magics Tooling software for all steps of the tool design and manufacturing process Materialise has produced drastically reduced lead times. EIA Electronics can introduce their Virtual Terminal to the market, sooner as expected.
