Press releases

17 Apr 2009 - Materialise will appeal the ruling of the German Federal Patent court.

On April 16, 2009, the German Patent Court in Munich has invalidated most relevant claims of Materialise’s (EP) 0 756 735 patent in Germany. Although the Court indicated that there is no novelty destroying prior art, the Court is of the opinion that there is a lack of inventive step compared to some prior art. Materialise does not agree with this judgment and has decided to appeal against this ruling.

Bart Swaelens, CEO of Materialise Dental adds: “We want to stress that our customers will always be able to use our products, regardless of the outcome of the patent case. The SimPlant® and SurgiGuide® products will remain the state-of-the-art products in the market, and we will further focus on innovation and improvement of our products”.
