Press Releases
06 Apr 2009 - 11 finalists, selected by Philippe Starck, .MGX by Materialise and mydeco in Pure Creativity Competition, see 3D printing facilities.
The Pure Creativity Competition, launched in October 2008 and aimed at design students worldwide, with the goal to boost their creativity while getting them familiar with freeform design and additive manufacturing, has entered a new phase.
Out of almost 100 participants, 27 nationalities, Philippe Starck and Naomi Kaempfer (.MGX) selected 11 finalists based on what he considered to be a design meeting the requirements of “breaking the current boundaries of design and creativity by using the exceptional possibilities 3D printing technologies offer”.
9 of the 11 selected finalists were able to grab the opportunity to visit the Materialise 3D printing production facilities in Leuven – Belgium. The young designers got an insight into the different additive manufacturing technologies, enabling them to use this information for design modifications in a later stage of their design.
All finalists were invited to give some additional information about their project and got a critical review of their design by the Materialise, mydeco and Philippe Starck team, as well as by their peers.
On April 20, the finalist will be known.
Check the mydeco website for more information about the contest and the shortlist of finalists and designs.
