Mimics 11.1 Out Now!
Leuven, November 19, 2007. Materialise launches Mimics 11.1, the new release of the company’s medical imaging and editing software. This new release builds on the last one, enhancing export to FEA even more. Overall usability and performance were improved with some very nice new features. The most important ones are listed below. Take a look at our website for more information.
Import your images with ease
- The improved import module allows you to import your 16-bit MR images and segment them with the highest precision.
- A preview pane during image import facilitates choosing the sequence you need and provides you with important header information.
Designed to meet any need. Tailored to yours.
- Instead of measuring along a straight line, it is now also possible to calculate the distance over the surface between two points in a 3D reconstruction.
- Since Mimics 11, Mimics allows you to edit your segmentation masks directly in 3D. With this new release, apart from erasing, growing, splitting and inverting it is now also possible to hide parts for easier 3D segmentation.
Increased user-friendliness and accuracy
- Perform Boolean operations on multiple segmented parts at once. The different operands for the Boolean operation are shown in complementary colors to help you visualize the operation.
- Global registration fine-tunes the placement of two parts on top of each other for accurate positioning and comparison.
- A duplication tool allows you to duplicate any object in the workspace.
- Drawing cylinders has become more intuitive. It is now possible not only to define the diameter of the cylinder, but also to draw cylinders with a specified length.
- Manipulate the control points of a cutting curve to cut with high precision.
- Restore all preferences to default in one mouse click.
Link to FEA strengthened
- The improved remesher supports non-manifold (matching) surfaces to enable the creation of coinciding nodes for accurate analysis of touching surfaces.
- Automatic remeshing creates an optimized surface mesh in just one mouse click.
- Generate smoothed voxel meshes in Mimics, based on your segmentation. This improvement allows you to start your FE analysis in minutes.
About Mimics
Mimics makes working with medical imaging data very easy. Fulfilling the need for user-friendly 3D image processing and editing software, it displays scanner and microscopy data in a variety of ways, providing accurate views of specific parts of the human anatomy. Mimics interfaces between scanner data and CAD formats; between medical images and rapid prototyping; and between an image and any finite element or computational fluid dynamics package.
Materialise supports the most innovative research conducted with the assistance of Mimics, with the Mimics Innovation Awards. Winners in each category receive a money prize to support them in their research.
The Materialise Group
With its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium, and branches worldwide, Materialise has been playing an active role in the field of additive manufacturing since 1990. In addition to having the largest capacity of rapid prototyping equipment in Europe, Materialise also enjoys a stellar reputation as a provider of innovative software solutions. They have used their experience and expertise to create a better and healthier world through their involvement in rapid industrial and medical prototyping, and by providing bio-medical and clinical solutions such as medical image processing and surgical simulations. The advantages of additive manufacturing have been used by Materialise to develop unique solutions that make a world of difference for its many customers with their prototyping, production, and medical needs. These customers range from large companies in the automotive, consumer electronics, and consumables sectors; to famous hospitals, research institutes, and clinicians; to individual consumers interested in bringing their own unique creations to life through i.materialise or who want to purchase a celebrated .MGX design.
