About low volume injection moulding
Since 1999, Materialise have been providing innovative low volume injection moulding solutions to many high profile organisations across a wide range of industries throughout Europe. The addition of low volume injection moulding capabilities to the portfolio makes Materialise a complete one-stop shop for rapid product development; providing solutions from next day concept models all the way through to low volume injection moulded components in real engineering plastics.
Injection moulding process
- According to the surface finish and quantity requirements we select the most appropriate and cost-effective material to produce the mould tool from, which is usually aluminium or pre-hardened steel.
- Mould design is tailored to meet the exact requirements of your project.
- Conventional machining using the latest High Speed Milling (HSM) and CNC spark erosion techniques.
- The mould tool is polished and can be textured using acid etching to create the desired surface finish.
- Detailed CMM inspections are carried out to ensure that mouldigs are within tolerance and of high quality.
- Post processing of parts; including assembly, printing, painting and chrome plating. All this is fully project managed by Materialise.
Benefits of low volume injection moulding
- Low investment costs
- Short lead-times (from 3 weeks)
- Up to 10, 000 parts from a single mould tool
- Parts in real engineering plastics
