Design & Engineering Manager

In the past decade Materialise has been building an extensive know-how in designing and engineering products to maximize the value offered by 3D Printing. We now want to further grow and market this expertise.  To help the D&E team achieve this objective, we are looking for a Design & Engineering Manager.


  • Defines and showcases the product offering of our D&E team to ensure that potential commercial opportunities can be identified and realized
  • Responsible for the 4P marketing mix on the full portfolio of the engineering services
  • Translate the added value that design and engineering brings to the existing 3D Printing portfolio
  • Identified and maps the added value of Materialise’s engineering services and ensures the right positioning on the market
  • Maintains contacts with existing and potential customers to ensure that commercial relations can be developed even further
  • Motivates the Design & Engineering team to ensure that their competencies, skills and know-how are best used and developed, and that we have a well-functioning, high-performance team in place.
  • Assumes full accountability on financial & performance measures
  • Ensures the quality standards internally
  • Works in close collaboration with the Marketing & Sales, Research & Production teams and reports to the Vice-President of the Business Unit Manufacturing 


  • Preferably a background in Engineering
  • Expertise in simulation, FEA of CFD is a plus
  • As an inspiring leader, you are eager to coach, to develop and to mentor a team
  • You are well-informed about the evolutions and developments related to the Design & Engineering market
  • Apart from good communication skills, both verbal and written, you have good negotiation skills. You are familiar with IP discussions.
  • Your market-assessment techniques and insights are up-to-date and you have confidence while talking with clients, suppliers, or contractors
  • Being customer-oriented is your second nature
  • Working in a matrix organization is no problem, you easily find your way and can set up an internal network in no time
  • You are good with numbers & figures
  • You are willing to travel up to 20% of your time
